Long Thanh International Airport is an international airport under construction in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, about 40 km east of Ho Chi Minh City. With a capacity of up to 100 million passengers/year when all 3 phases are completed.

The goal set by the Ministry of Transport is to start construction of Long Thanh airport in 2020, complete it in 2024 and put phase 1 into operation in early 2025.
Phase 1 will invest in a runway and a passenger terminal along with synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of goods per year. Total investment of phase 1 is 114,451 billion VND (equivalent to 5.45 billion US dollars). Phase 1 will be completed and put into operation by 2025 at the latest.
Phase 2, continue to invest in building an open runway and a passenger terminal to reach a capacity of 50 million passengers/year and 1.5 million tons of goods/year.
Phase 3 will complete the project's items to reach a capacity of 100 million passengers/year and 5 million tons of goods/year. When completed, the airport will have 4 terminals and 4 runways, expected to be completed by 2035.

The representative of the Vietur joint venture said that up to this point, the contractor consortium has mobilized a team of 400 engineers and more than 700 construction workers on the construction site. Currently, temporary works such as the operating house, electrical system, fence, and tower crane have been basically completed. In addition, the consortium of contractors will mobilize an additional 43 excavators and over 100 soil trucks to serve the construction.
