Digital transformation is promoted

Promoting its achieved successes, HCMC continues to promote digital transformation activities in 2023. Accordingly, the city organizes a series of events and a digital transformation week with the theme: "Exploring digital data, successful digital transformation".

The HCMC People's Committee unveiled a digital map at the Tech4life 2023 Exhibition and Conference, which was held on October 4 and 5. The map made it simple for people to search for information about the locations of local businesses, healthcare facilities, transportation, environmental resources, and educational institutions. The 3D planning map was also unveiled by the Thu Duc City People's Committee.

During the event, the municipal People’s Committee introduced a digital map, helping local residents look for necessary information on healthcare, transport, environment, and education, among others.

The District 7 People's Committee Chairman, Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan Anh, stated that in April 2023, the Center for COVID-19 Pandemic Prevention and Control and Economic Recovery, which was established by FPT for District 7 in 2021, will form a database and digitize and integrate data related to various fields. The center assists in the digitization of data from 29,273 business households, 30,025 enterprises, 22 cooperatives, 9 markets and supermarkets, 3 trade centers, and 165 stores, among other entities in the economic field. In the urban domain, District 7 also digitized all planning maps, 458 roads, 540 alleys, 410 rivers and canals, 100 bridges, 25 fire hydrants, and 105 apartments.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Vo Thi Trung Trinh, HCM City will work to form an integrated database that serves the digital transformation process in the city and the country at large.

Digital economy contributes 18.66% to the city's GRDP

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, HCM City placed second out of 63 provinces and centrally administered cities in the nation in terms of the 2022 Digital Transformation Index (DTI).

Approximately 18.66 percent of the city's gross regional product (GRDP) last year—or VND1.5 quadrillion, or US$61.5 billion—came from the digital economy.

For the third year in a row, the city's successful digital transformation initiatives earned it a high evaluation.

The Asia-Oceania Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) recently granted the HCMC People's Committee the ASOCIO 2023 award in the category of Excellent Digital Government. The implementation management system, which HCMC unveiled at the end of September on a digital platform, will assist city leaders in assessing the overall effectiveness of their work and, if needed, in requesting clarifications from individual departments and branches. These successes contribute to the estimated 18.66% (or nearly 1.5 million billion VND) projected contribution rate of the digital economy to the city's gross domestic product in 2022.
